First for Wellbeing

'Wellbeing’ is how we feel about and experience our life.

It is about having a sense of happiness and contentment in all aspects of our life, including physical and emotional health, community connectedness, social interactions, relationships, home life, work and financial security. It is about getting out there, getting involved and taking control of your life – one step at a time.

First for Wellbeing is a way of looking at personal health that takes a holistic approach, i.e. looking at the whole person and not just particular parts or issues.

Areas that are considered are: Smoking, Alcohol, Weight management, Employment, Adult learning, Housing, Social isolation, Debt, and Emotional factors.

Assessments are available on a face-to-face basis (in libraries, community venues, etc.) or on-line. Following the assessment some goals can be set for you to take forward.

More information can be found here:

First for Wellbeing clinics are held at the Cottons Medical Centre on alternate Friday mornings. The clinics are for non-medical matters, and topics covered are things such as stopping smoking, weight management, debt, and so on (see above). Please contact reception to make an appointment.

In the first instance you can speak to someone and look at how the clinics might be able to help you, and then work out a programme to go forward.
